SATURDAY SCOOPS
Movie for the girls, then for the guys

Advertiser Staff

The final "Sunset on the Beach" of the year will feature two very different dramas this weekend.

Today's film is "Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," starring Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd (pictured below), Ellen Burstyn, Shirley Knight and Maggie Smith. Even with James Garner in the cast, this is still very much a chick flick — a Southern chick flick at that, about two generations of eccentric women.

Tomorrow's movie is "K-19: The Widowmaker," starring Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson in a Soviet submarine adventure based loosely on a true story. That makes this a total guy flick.

Each movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. on that 30-foot screen. "Sunset on the Beach" begins at 4 p.m. each day, with food booths and entertainment at Queen's Surf Beach in Waikiki. Admission is free.
