SHOW BIZ
Golf game ends badly for duck

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Editor

WHEE, THE PEOPLE: Don't mention duck to Tony Ruivivar, Society of Seven leader. He was golfing with Ben Dowling, Jimmy Borges and Augie Rey a few days back at the Honolulu International Country Club course, when, on the 9th hole, his ball hit a duck. "I felt so bad," said Ruivivar.

And when Ruivivar and wife Karen had dinner at Alan Wong's Restaurant that evening, a well-meaning waiter suggested the "Duck, Duck & Duck" appetizer (duck prepared three ways). They passed. "I don't think I could even eat Peking duck here on out," said Ruivivar, who performs with the SOS at tomorrow's Hula Bowl on Maui, then returns to the Outrigger Waikiki Main Showroom Tuesday night ...

So, you ask, are Karen and Tony "together" again, after saying they would dissolve their marriage? Don't know, but they took in "The Vagina Monologues" with her mom, Ethel Walker, at the Hawai'i Theatre on Tuesday night. They attended a benefit for the Domestic Violence Clearinghouse & Legal Hotline, held at Compadres, that included a trolley ride to and from the theater. Others there: DVC exec director Nanci Kreidman, Barbara Bronster (mom of Margery Bronster, former attorney general) and a party of 10, Martin Schiller and Robyn Schaefer (advertising-PR duo), and Dawn and Christy Rumbaugh (ex-Islanders now living in New York) ...

Indigo Eurasian Cuisine, next door to the Hawai'i Theatre, has become a hangout for "The Vagina Monologues" cast. Mackenzie Phillips, Michele Shay and Amy J. Carle regularly have their pre-show meals there; it started one night when they asked for a table of three and the restaurant was booked because diners were going to the theater. "Ohhhh," they said. "I like this place already," said Phillips. They had pupu in the Green Room and have made the restaurant a regular stop ...

Loretta Swit, who joined Shay and Carle this week, dined at Compadres after her opening night, and restaurant manager Scott Enos got his picture taken with Swit, the pic no doubt destined for the Wall of Fame ...

Augie Rey, who performs weekends at Nick's Fishmarket, has a Sunday gig from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mai Tai Bar of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. His musical partners are Carlos Barbosa and Eddie Maligmat ...
