JAMES I. NISHIMOTO, a principal since 1993 with the architectural, planning and interior design firm Group 70 International, has been named president and chief operating officer. Nishimoto, who has been with the firm since 1989, is a graduate of the University of Hawai'i, School of Architecture.

• Also, Group 70 International's immediate past president, SHERYL B. SEAMAN, has been named vice chairman.

• Belt Collins Hawai'i Ltd. has named JOHNNY K. LAU information systems manager for the planning, engineering, landscape architecture and environmental design firm. He is former information systems administrator with the architectural design firm Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo. Belt Collins, founded in Honolulu, maintains offices as well in Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Philippines, Guam and Washington state.

• The University of Hawai'i-Manoa has hired professors from Harvard Business School and Miami University, Ohio, to fill endowed professorships in the College of Business Administration.

ROBERT J. ROBINSON, a Harvard faculty member since 1991, was named the Barry and Virginia Weinman distinguished professor of entrepreneurship and e-business at UH. He is co-author of "Angel Investing," and was a recent MIT Sloan School of Management visiting professor.

MICHAEL H. MORRIS was named the Harold and Sandy Noborikawa distinguished professor of entrepreneurship, marketing and information technology. He was formerly Cintas professor of entrepreneurship at Miami University, Ohio and is author of several texts on the subject.

The two will serve also as executive director and academic director, respectively, of the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship and E-Business.

BRANT CHILLINGWORTH, who has worked extensively with the sensitive issue of iwi kupuna, or ancestral remains, and Native Hawaiian burial practices, has been named account executive with the marketing consultancy Communications-Pacific Inc. (Comm-Pac). Assigned to the firm's civic affairs and community building group, Chillingworth will work with projects involving government, local communities and organizations. He is a veteran of projects in Punalu'u, Kona and downtown Honolulu.

• Communications-Pacific also announced the hiring of account executive MOLLY WATANABE, specializing in media relations, special event promotions, book promotions and community events. SHAN WONG has been promoted to account executive.

• Central Pacific Bank has announced three Maui hirings in an effort to increase its business and consumer presence on the Valley Island. All three are former members of Bank of Hawaii's Maui Commercial Banking Center.

CHARLES E. KEYES, former manager of the Bank of Hawaii center, was named Central Pacific vice president and manager of the Maui region, heading the Maui team.

KYLE K. SAKAMOTO was named vice president and business relationship officer. WANDA T. FUJIMORI was named business banking relationship representative. The two were, respectively, assistant vice president/commercial banking officer, and senior service specialist, at the Bank of Hawaii center.

• Three business and community leaders have been named to American Savings Bank's board of directors:

• Certified public accountant BARRY TANIGUCHI, president and chief executive officer of the family-run KTA Super Stores and K. Taniguchi Ltd., and former executive with National Car Rental Hawai'i and The Realty Investment Co. Ltd.

BERT A. KOBAYASHI, chairman of Kobayashi Development Group LLC.

RICHARD "DICK" W. GUSHMAN, real estate developer through OKOA Inc., managing partner of Summit Financial Resources and chairman of the James Campbell Estate board of trustees.
