Tim Brown and Junior Seau will be among the NFL players who will participate in the fifth annual Ace Hardware Golf Shootout, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ko Olina Golf Club.
The event is a benefit for the Children's Miracle Network and Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children. Nine children who have been treated at Kap'iolani will be honorary caddies for former and current football players who will compete in a skills competition.
The 10th caddy is Mallory Code, from Tampa, Fla. Code, 17, is ranked 13th nationally in her golf age group. She suffers from cystic fibrosis, asthma and diabetes.
The made-for-television event will feature three three-man teams including Eric Dickerson, Franco Harris, Willie Lanier and Merlin Olsen competing in six different events. Code, along with the NFL players, will also attempt a $1 million shot on a 169-yard par-3.
If a player makes a hole-in-one, $900,000 will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network and $100,000 split among the team of the player who sinks it. If Code aces the hole, the Children's Miracle Network will still get $900,000 and $100,000 will go to the children's hospital where she has been treated since she was 4.
