HPU baseball routs Ark. Tech, 20-8

Alika Kuraoka went 3-for-5 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs to lead Hawai'i Pacific over Arkansas Tech, 20-8, last night at Hans L'Orange Park.

Derek Little (2-for-3), Jonathan Torres (2-for-3), Ikaika DuPont (2-for-3) and T.C. Everett (2-for-4) each had multiple hits for the Sea Warriors.

Hawai'i Pacific improved to 6-9, while Arkansas Tech dropped to 0-3.


GOLF

• Pearl Open qualifying: William Coelho, Devin Sasai and Jeffrey Ferry topped the list of qualifiers for the Hawai'i Pearl Open, which will be held Friday through Sunday.

Coelho shot a 72 at the par-72 Pearl Country Club yesterday. Sasai and Ferry each shot 73. Twenty-one other golfers qualified for the tournament.


FOOTBALL

• Pro Bowl: Chris Fuamata-Ma'afala and Kimo von Oelhoffen of the Pittsburgh Steelers will be presenting Pro Bowl tickets and interisland airline tickets to Nanu Padalino from Konawaena High School and Justin Manuel from Waiakea High School.

Padalino and Manuel were chosen by their coaches to represent their schools based on overall academic and football achievements.


SOFTBALL

• BYUH swept: The Brigham Young-Hawai'i softball team opened its season with a pair of losses to Augustana (S.D.), 10-0 and 3-2, yesterday at BYUH field in La'ie.

In the first game, the Seasiders issued four walks, hit three batters and committed four errors.

In the second game, the Seasiders' Juanita Vega batted 2-for-3 with an RBI in a losing effort.
