Mililani, Baldwin, Hilo, Kamehameha advance

Top-seed Mililani outscored Campbell 3-2 in penalty kicks to defeat the Sabers 1-0 and advance to the semifinals of the AT&T Wireless Boys State Soccer Championship at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku, Maui.

Mililani plays Hilo at 5:30 p.m. today at War Memorial. Kamehameha and Baldwin play in the other semifinal at 7:30.

Whitney Shimatsu, Vance Harris and Bronson Yee scored on penalty kicks for Mililani (13-0-0). Campbell (9-4-1) got goals from Michael Ryman and Brian Leano.

Campbell had a chance to tie on the final penalty kick, but Rocky Otsuka's shot missed wide right.

The Sabers played tenacious defense against the Trojans, as both teams played to a scoreless tie after two overtimes.

Campbell had a chance to score in overtime, but a shot from 20 yards out by Donovan Gaboya hit the crossbar and bounced over the goal.

Mililani had 16 shots on goal to Campbell's five.

Baldwin 6, St. Joseph 0: Michael Donahoo scored two goals, and J.J. Eno, Artie Ferreira, Ian Pascua and Brady Nunes scored one each as the second-seeded Bears advanced.

Baldwin is 8-1-2, St. Joseph 12-7.

Kamehameha 2, Kaiser 1: David Gualdarama scored two second-half goals to lift the third-seeded Warriors (11-1-2) into the semifinals.

Gualdarama's first goal came on a header at 62 minutes, 52 seconds; the second four minutes later on a line shot that went off the hands of Kaiser goalie Joshua Curtis.

Kaiser's Landon Beers scored at 71:42, but the Warriors defense shut out the Cougars (13-2-0) for the remainder of the match.

Hilo 1, Castle 0: Mo'i Kanealii scored on a penalty kick at 63:16 as the fourth-seeded Vikings (15-1) moved into the semifinals.

The Knights (9-4-2) had several opportunities late in the match, but Viking goalie Brandon Morita stopped them each time. Morita finished with seven saves.

  • • Seabury Hall 1, Kapa'a 0: Kauila Rivera scored on a penalty kick with a minute remaining. Seabury Hall is 9-3-1, Kapa'a 4-3-0.
  • • Moanalua 3, Kealakehe 2: Moanalua (11-5-0) outshot Kealakehe (12-5-0) 3-0 in penalty kicks. The game was tied at 2 after regulation.
