Big Island police find stolen goods
WAIMEA, Hawai'i Police in South Kohala recovered $10,000 worth of skateboards, sunglasses, paintball guns and other items taken in a burglary last month at C&S Outfitters in Waimea.
The break-in occurred the night of Jan. 29 when thieves entered the store through the roof.
Police have identified two teenagers as suspects and are investigating a third, said Capt. Robert Ka'aua.
Although some of the loot was recovered, an additional $5,000 in merchandise was sold to students in Kona, he said.
The suspects also are believed to have been involved in a burglary two weeks earlier at another Waimea business, Byrd's Audio, Ka'aua said. He credited patrol officer Mark Haggerty and tips from the public with breaking the burglary ring, and said the investigation is continuing to identify additional suspects.
