Mililani rallies past Kaimuki

MILILANI — In a thrill-a-minute high school boys basketball game last night, Mililani senior Rashaun Broadus provided the most excitement in the final 75 seconds.

Broadus made two steals and two layups in those closing moments to lift the Trojans to a pulsating 60-55 victory over Kaimuki in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association semifinal.

Mililani trailed 30-20 at the half and Broadus' layup with 1:10 remaining gave the Trojans their first lead (56-55) since midway through the first period. He made another steal and layup 30 seconds later and sank two free throws with nine seconds left to finish with a game-high 22 points, including eight in the fourth quarter.

"We had 'em on the ropes, but Broadus killed us," Bulldogs coach Stephen Lee said. "We couldn't stop him. It seemed like every time he got the ball, he penetrated and scored. He's very hard to defend. We tried denying him, but he's just too quick, and once he gets the ball, he'll score."

Andrew Min added 10 points for Mililani (12-0). Jesse Wong led Kaimuki (9-3) with 17 points, and Daniel Tautofi and James Davis contributed 16 and 14 points, respectively.
