Prison for life for Kona attack

KEALAKEKUA, Hawai'i — A man described as a "dangerous psychopath" was ordered to serve a term of life imprisonment plus 60 years for savagely attacking a woman at her Kona Highlands home.

Norbert Lee Alcaide, 27, of Kailua, Kona, was naked when he broke into the residence April 20, 2000, and stabbed the woman, sticking his finger into one of the knife wounds in her neck.

A jury in November convicted him of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree burglary, four counts of sexual assault, terroristic threatening, kidnapping and car theft. He already is serving a 10-year term for an unrelated burglary.

Third Circuit Judge Ronald Ibarra filed the sentence Wednesday, after deputy prosecutor Dale Ross requested extended and consecutive terms.

At the sentencing hearing Monday, forensic neuropsychologist Dr. Harold Hall said Alcaide was a "dangerous psychopath."
