No. 1 Georgia Tech sweeps golf titles

Top-ranked Georgia Tech won the team title and Yellowjacket Troy Matteson captured the individual title yesterday at the 12th TaylorMade/Waikoloa Intercollegiate golf tournament at the Waikoloa Kings' Course on the Big Island.
Georgia Tech shot a third-round 294 and finished with a three-round, four-man team aggregate of 860. Oklahoma finished second (287—868), followed by Arkansas (297), Fresno State (296) and Nevada (300) at 875.
Host University of Hawai'i-Hilo finished 16th at 896 and UH-Manoa was 21st at 908.
Matteson shot a final-round 1-over 73 for a 210 total and a one-stroke victory over Fresno State's Nick Watney (71—211). Pepperdine's Jason Allred finished third at 72—213.
UH-Hilo's Garrett Okamura shot a 73 and finished in a 6-way tie for 20th at 219.
UH-Manoa's Matthew Kodama shot 78 and ended in a group of nine golfers tied for 50th place at 224.
