SPECIAL EVENTS

"10th Annual African Cultural Safari," storytelling, music, creative activities, games, fashion show, and more in honor of Black History Month, 1-4:30 p.m. today, Honolulu Academy of Arts; $1 general admission, free to members and children under 13. 532-8726.

Khmer Artifacts on Display, artifacts which will be repatriated to Cambodia in April will be on display through today, or possibly later in the month, subject to transport arrangements back to Cambodia. The objects include a 9th-century stone head of Shiva and a 12th-century stone head of an asura (demon), on display in the John Young Gallery of Southeast Asian Art, Honolulu Academy of Arts; special admission for today will be $1; other days are $7 general admission, $4 seniors, students and military, but free to academy members and children under 13, to see this and all other academy exhibits. 532-8700.

CLASSES/WORKSHOPS

Japan Craft Artisans Program offers demonstrations and hands-on classes in sumi-e/calligraphy, doll-making and enameling/cloisonne, Tuesday Feb. 19 through Friday March 1, Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii. Elderhostel Program at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, opens registration for Hawai'i residents and nonresidents, 55 years or older, March 10-16 (An Art Adventure in Hawai'i). CALLS TO ARTISTS

The Hawai'i Division of Forestry and Wildlife is seeking submissions of paintings to be selected as the 2002-2003 Hawai'i Wildlife Conservation Stamp which is used for hunting licenses and available to collectors. The stamp must feature the chukar partridge in its natural habitat. Submissions must be received by the division no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Information: 587-0166.
