MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL

• Almost perfect: Nebraska All-American right-hander Shane Komine of Honolulu was almost perfect in his second start of the season last night.

Komine allowed one hit, struck out 14 and walked none in eight innings as Nebraska beat McNeese State, 9-4, in Lake Charles, La. He faced one more batter than the minimum 24.

"I was in the zone out there," Komine said. "My job was to throw strikes and let them hit the ball. Our defense did a great job and they deserve a lot of credit."

Komine struck out eight of the first 10 batters he faced and retired the last 15. It was the 19th career double-figure strikeout game for Komine, a 1998 Kalani High graduate from Kaimuki, and improved his career record to 32-8.
