Cayetano at governors' meeting

Associated Press

Gov. Ben Cayetano is in Washington this weekend to attend the National Governors Association Winter Meeting.

During the four-day gathering that runs through Tuesday, the governors were to discuss homeland security with President Bush.

Other topics include the fiscal situation of national and state governments, Medicaid and welfare reform, Cayetano's office said.

Other meetings were planned with Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge, Attorney General John Ashcroft and Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson.

The governor stopped in California on his way to Washington to meet with biotechnology leaders, Cayetano's press secretary, Kim Murakawa, said.

During the stopover, he viewed the University of San Francisco Medical School's new Mission Bay medical biotech campus, she said.
