Tonight's Must-See

• "Fear No More: Stop Violence Against Women," 10 p.m., Lifetime. A young couple, we're told, worked in a high-toned block of Manhattan. She was in publishing, he was in finance. Friends envied them. They didn't know, she says, that he beat her continuously. "I was afraid to be with him and afraid to leave." That's one of five chilling, first-person stories in this documentary played host by Brooke Shields.

According to the network, one in three American women will experience domestic violence. To help stop the violence, Lifetime is encouraging viewers to visit lifetimetv.com and sign a petition that will be delivered to Congress. The site also includes links to advocacy groups for battered women.

Of Note

• "Boston Public," 7 p.m., Fox. Sometimes, this series tackles heavy fare. Tonight, blacks and whites argue about the use of the "N" word.

• "Everybody Loves Raymond," 8 p.m., CBS. This wonderful show is back to new episodes. Tonight, Ray's parents have a 45th wedding anniversary.

• "Practical Magic" (1998), 8 p.m., ABC. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman play two beauties with a problem: They're descended from a line of witches and face a curse that dooms any man they love.

• "Crossing Jordan," 9 p.m., NBC. After an Olympic break, this fine show is back. Tonight, Jordan (a medical examiner) is worried about more than the body — there's also the deceased's missing baby.
