Weekly honors

IKAIKA ALAMA-FRANCIS

Kalaheo basketball

Senior forward scored 65 points in three state tournament games, leading the Mustangs to a second-place finish.

Waiakea swimming

Sophomore won the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.00 seconds, the 100 free in 52.65 and was part of winning relay teams in the 400 free and 200 medley at the state championship meet.

NICK BORRECA

Punahou swimming

Senior rebounded from a bout with mononucleosis to win the 50 freestyle state championship with a time of 20.88 seconds and was part of the Buffanblu's record-setting 200 free relay team that posted a time of 3 minutes, 10.44 seconds.

RASHAUN BROADUS

Mililani basketball

Senior guard scored 60 points in four state tournament games to lead the Trojans to a fourth-place finish, the best in school history.

DC DANIELS

Kalaheo basketball

Senior wing scored 59 points in three state tournament games to help the Mustangs finish second — their 11th final four finish in the past 12 years.

Iolani swimming

Sophomore broke a 20-year-old state meet record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4 minutes, 28.60 seconds and broke his own state meet record in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.28. He also was part of record-setting relay teams in the 200 free relay and the 200 medley.

DERRICK LOW

Iolani basketball

Sophomore guard scored 64 points in three state tournament games, including a career-high 33 in the final, to lead the Raiders to their third championship in the past nine seasons.

BOBBY NASH

Iolani basketball

Junior wing scored 47 points in three state tournament games, including 10 points to go with six rebounds in the final, to help the Raiders win the championship.

HONGZHE SUN

Iolani swimming

Junior set a state meet record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.40 seconds and was part of record-setting relay teams in the 200 free and 200 medley. He also won the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.42 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 50.42.

ASHLEY SWART

Kaiser swimming

Senior broke a 19-year-old state meet record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4 minutes, 58.01 seconds and set another record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:03.80.

DANIEL TAUTOFI

Kaimuki basketball

Junior center had three double-doubles in four state tournament games, including 20 points and 12 rebounds in a first-round upset of Punahou, and 17 points and 15 rebounds in a third-place victory over Mililani — the Bulldogs' best finish since 1993.

EDWARD AFUALO, Kapolei swimming — Won the 100 breaststroke state championship with a time of 58.83 seconds.

SARAH DELARA, Maui swimming — Won the 1-meter diving state championship by scoring 352.85 points.

CASSIE KA'APU-LYONS, Waiakea swimming — Won the 100 breaststroke state championship with a time of 1 minute, 6.19 seconds.

JUSTIN LEE, Hawai'i Prep swimming — Won the 100 freestyle state championship in a time of 46.70 seconds.

JIMMY MIYASAKA, Kaimuki basketball — Sophomore guard scored a team-high 14 points, including 6 of 6 free throws down the stretch, to help the Bulldogs upset No. 3 seed Lahainaluna, 44-40, in the state quarterfinals.

CHELSEA NAGATA, Maui swimming — Won the 100 butterfly state championship with a time of 56.01 seconds.

JESSICA NOHARA, Lahainaluna swimming — Won the state 200 freestyle championship with a time of 1 minute, 55.28 seconds.

JOSHUA TYAU, Kamehameha diving — Senior won his third state 1-meter diving title by scoring 414.15 points, the first time he broke the 400-point barrier.

KIMO YAMASHIRO, Iolani swimming — Won the 200 individual medley state championship with a time of 1 minute, 57.15 seconds.
