Kaua'i women used stolen Jackson tickets

Advertiser Staff

Three young women who traveled from Kaua'i for the Janet Jackson concert never got to see the show because they were holding stolen tickets.

Three Kaua'i women were removed from the Janet Jackson concert Feb. 16 at Aloha Stadium after trying to use stolen tickets.

The tickets to the Feb. 16 Aloha Stadium concert had been stolen two nights earlier in a burglary at Susan Bacelonia's beauty salon in Lihu'e. Bacelonia had reported the theft and was allowed to take the seats for which she had paid $70 apiece.

"I had the receipt and I knew the ticket numbers," she said.

The tickets, which Bacelonia said were for seats near the front of the stage, were taken from her shop, A Touch of Elegance, along with electronics equipment.

Bacelonia immediately called her son, Honolulu police officer Arnold Cayabyab, who helped her get permission to take the original seats and prepared police and stadium security for a possible problem.

"We were there first, and when (the three women) came, they sat behind us," Bacelonia said. The people with tickets for those seats arrived and checked the tickets held by the Kaua'i women. They initially told Bacelonia's group they were improperly seated. Bacelonia called security, and the three women holding her tickets were taken away.

None of the women was arrested in connection with the burglary, said Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman Michelle Yu.

They were, however, holding stolen tickets and cited for trespassing by stadium security.
