What does your school need badly?

 •  Mold is school health risk

Advertiser Staff

A $621 million backlog of school maintenance and repairs. Storage rooms converted into classrooms to alleviate crowding. Moldy library books.

The state's schools are plagued by problems. The Legislature has allocated more money for repairs, and meanwhile, principals and school staffs are doing their best to cope. But, hamstrung by a perennial lack of money and with new budget cuts looming, they need help in tackling these situations before they get worse.

The Advertiser wants to shine a light on these problems, to let you know what's going on in your schools.

If you have an urgent problem at your school, please contact Jennifer Hiller at jhiller@honoluluadvertiser.com or 525-8084. Or contact education editor Dan Woods at 525-5441 or dwoods@honoluluadvertiser.com.
