Makiki, Queen Street bank robbers sought

CrimeStoppers has put out calls for information on two bank robberies that occurred in the past week.

In yesterday's heist at First Hawaiian Bank's Makiki branch, 1111 S. Beretania St., the suspect walked in at 10 a.m., stood in line and passed a demand note to the teller stating he was armed, although no weapon was seen.

He took an undisclosed amount of cash and last was seen walking toward the adjacent Safeway store.

He is described as about 25 years old, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds with a muscular build. He had sandy blond hair, blue-green eyes and a medium complexion and was wearing a black beanie cap, a dark long-sleeved T-shirt, black knee-length shorts and athletic shoes. Police also said he had three small Band-Aids on the side of his nose and his cheek and chin.

The second robbery occurred at 9:18 a.m. Friday at American Savings Bank, 929 Queen St. The robber handed a demand note to the teller, who gave him an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Queen Street robber is described as being 6 feet 2, 250 pounds, with a heavy build and a large belly. He was wearing a tan-and-black baseball cap, sunglasses, a tan Polo-brand shirt and jeans.
