Savovic earns weekly WAC honor

While one member of the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team was receiving a WAC honor, another was MIA.
Predrag Savovic was named the Western Athletic Conference player of the week today for Dec. 24-30.
Teammate Luc-Arthur Vebobe, meanwhile, missed the team's bus to Honolulu Airport Monday and did not make the trip to El Paso, Texas. The Rainbows play UTEP tomorrow.
Savovic, a senior from Yugoslavia, led Hawai'i in scoring in two wins over Fresno State and Nevada.
Against the Bulldogs, he scored a season-high 23 points and pulled down six rebounds.
In the Nevada victory, Savovic scored 19 points, connecting on 5-of-10 three-pointers.
Other nominations were Gerrod Henderson (Louisiana Tech); Terrance Green (Nevada); Jason McKrieth (Rice); Brandon Hawkins (San Jose State); Quinton Ross (Southern Methodist); Dante Swanson (Tulsa).
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
No. 24 Old Dominion 105, William & Mary 47: Okeisha Howard scored 20 points to lead Old Dominion over William & Mary last night at Williamsburg, Va.
Hamchetou Maiga added 15 points for Old Dominion (6-4, 3-0 Colonial Athletic Association), which led 56-19 at halftime and stretched its advantage to 50 points with 13:04 remaining.
Jen Sobota scored 12 points for overmatched William & Mary.
