Advertiser Staff

Gannett Co. and Donrey Media announced plans today to jointly operate and develop Hawaii.com, a tourism and entertainment Web site.

"Hawaii.com has the potential to become the definitive Hawai'i tourism site, and we're thrilled to be able to join with Donrey in making it so," said Mike Fisch, president of Gannett Pacific and publisher of The Honolulu Advertiser.

"We're able to bring together Gannett's nationwide print and online resources to provide tourists and destination marketers a convenient way to connect. The Hawai'i resources of Donrey and Gannett, together with the Hawaii.com brand can also provide comprehensive entertainment resources for local residents and tourist needs."

Sherman Frederick President of Donrey, which publishes the Hawaii Tribune-Herald in Hilo, the North Hawaii News in Waimea and West Hawaii Today in Kailua-Kona, said: "We are pleased to join Gannett in this new venture,"

The parties did not disclose the terms of the arrangement. Gannett will help develop content for the site and drive traffic to it through its network of 100 Internet sites, including USAToday.com and HonoluluAdvertiser.com.

Donrey also operates one of the United States' largest tourism web sites, lasvegas.com
