"The Royal Tenenbaums": A peculiar and sort of brilliant family comedy that exists on a knife-edge between comedy and sadness. Gene Hackman plays the patriarch of a sensationally dysfunctional family; Anjelica Huston is his estranged wife, Danny Glover is her fiance, and the three kids are played by Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow and Luke Wilson.
