Kaua'i business publication sold

Kaua'i Publishing, owner of The Garden Island newspaper, has bought the monthly Kaua'i Business Report, founded in 1995 by Peter McClaran and Jane Esaki McClaran. The report is mailed monthly to roughly 17,000 homes on the island.

The McClarans said rising costs and the time commitment of putting out the paper led them to sell. Esaki McClaran said she will continue selling advertising for the publication for three months, and her husband will write for the paper for six months.

The publication will be renamed Kaua'i Business and Real Estate Report and will be distributed as an insert in the Sunday Garden Island and as part of the free Island Shopper. The first edition under the new ownership will be Jan. 13.
