Crouch coming to Hula Bowl

Advertiser Staff

Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch of Nebraska will play in the Hula Bowl, according to Hula Bowl Maui executive director Lenny Klompus.

The game will be played Feb. 2 at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku, Maui.

Crouch, a quarterback, finished the regular season with 2,625 yards of total offense (1,115 rushing and 1,510 passing).

Nebraska lost to Miami 37-14 in the Rose Bowl on Thursday.

Klompus also said Steve Spurrier, who resigned Friday as Florida's head coach, will be at the Hula Bowl as an assistant to Oklahoma's Bob Stoops.

Others top players committed to the Hula Bowl include defensive ends Alex Brown (Florida) and Greg Scott (Hampton), and defensive tackle Wendell Bryant (Wisconsin).

Crouch and Brown were on the Associated Press All-America first team this year.
