Farrell revs up to rock the house at Wave Waikiki

By Deb Yuen
TGIF Editor

Perry Farrell, former frontman of alt-rock bands Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros, and co-founder of the Lollapalooza rock festival tour, headlines a concert 9 p.m.-4 a.m. Jan. 19 at Wave Waikiki.

Farrell, considered one of rock music's great innovators, has now been reincarnated as the record-spinning DJ Peretz. His latest solo release, 2001's "Song Yet to Be Sung," fuses downtempo, drum 'n' bass, techno, world-music and rock themes.

The Wave Waikiki concert also will feature island band Quadraphonix, and DJ Alika, DJ Daniel J, G-Spot and KSM, and two areas of house, jungle, trance and drum 'n' bass.

Admission is $15; limited $10 advance tickets are available at Cheapo Music, Hungry Ear, Jelly's, Wave Waikiki, Tower Records and Video, and Virus (1677 Kapi'olani Blvd.). The show is for those 18 and older.

For those who won't be ready to go home afterward, there's an after-show party until 7:30 a.m. at Virus. Admission is $8 (or two-for-one with the Wave Waikiki stamp).

Information: 941-0424, 591-3500.
