Two more suspects arrested in revelry

Honolulu police have arrested two more suspects in connection with New Year's Eve shootings in Kalihi Valley.

Police arrested two men, ages 21 and 27, who allegedly fired rounds from a .357 revolver into the air. The men were released pending further investigation.

Bullets pierced the ceiling of a bedroom at a neighboring Nihi Street house, coming within 10 feet of where a woman was sleeping with her children. Bullet holes also were found in the ceiling of a home on Violet Street, less than a block away.

Two brothers, ages 33 and 40, were arrested earlier for investigation of reckless endangering, but they also have been released.

Witnesses sought in Dec. 31 crash

Honolulu police are seeking witnesses to a New Year's Eve crash on the H-1 Freeway that resulted in the death of a 60-year-old woman.

The accident occurred at about 10:05 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of H-1, just east of the Punahou off-ramp. The woman was a passenger in a 2000 Nissan MVP. The driver of the Nissan had attempted to move from the center lane to the right lane, but after noticing another vehicle in the right lane, the driver oversteered and collided with a two-door 1989 Toyota in the left lane.

Police are looking for information on a car that might have been speeding in the area just before the accident occurred. Witnesses are asked to call 529-3136.
