UH-Hilo's Bartholomew honored

Hawai'i-Hilo basketball forward Kyle Bartholomew has been named Pacific West Conference Player of the Week.

Bartholomew, a 6-4 junior from Hilo, averaged 15.3 points and 10 rebounds in three Vulcan victories.

He scored 22 points and had 12 rebounds against Western New Mexico State Saturday, and got his seventh double-double (12 points and 10 rebounds) against Montana State-Billings Monday.

The Vulcans (13-2 overall and 3-0 in the PacWest) have an 11-game winning streak entering Friday's conference game at Brigham Young-Hawai'i (9-4, 0-0).


DIVING

• BYU, Wisconsin divers win: Brigham Young's Aaron Russell won the men's 1-meter diving and Wisconsin's Siobhan Kernan the women's 3-meter at the Rainbow Diving Invitational at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

Russell finished with 339.20 points, ahead of UH's Mike Gowdy, who scored 332.40. Gowdy won the men's 3-meter Monday.

Kernan scored 499.00, ahead of Minnesota's Kim Bahmer, who had 472.90 points.

UH's swimming and diving teams will compete against Nevada-Las Vegas and Minnesota Saturday at Duke Kahanamoku.
