3,000 affected by East Honolulu outage

About 3,000 customers were without power today in parts of East Honolulu after an outage reported at 9:47 a.m.

Fred Kobashikawa, spokesman for Hawaiian Electric Co., said crews were still checking to see what caused the outage. Affected areas included East Hind Drive, Elelupe Road, parts of Niu Valley, Kuliouou Road and Kawaihae Street, he said.
