UH swim team wins and loses

The University of Hawai'i men's swimming and diving team defeated Nevada-Las Vegas, 80-60, but lost to sixth-ranked Minnesota, 87-49, in a meet yesterday at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

UH winners included Konstantin Dubrovin, who won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 39.45 seconds, Kurt Boehm won the 400 individual medley in 4:01.19, and Mike Gowdy won the 1-meter dive with a score of 337.50 points and the 3-meter dive with 326.50.

Gowdy and teammate Jon Coyle qualified for the NCAA Zone E Championships.

The Wahine lost to UNLV 163-114 yesterday.

UH's Sarah Farr won the 1-meter (252.14) and 3-meter (263.90) dives, and Morgan Hoesterey won the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.63.

QUARTERBACK CLUB

• Wallace to speak: Riley Wallace, the University of Hawai'i's men's basketball coach, will speak at the Quarterback's Club meeting tomorrow at the Pagoda International Ballroom.

Also speaking are Aaron Griess, Chaminade's men's basketball head coach and Mike Anderson, University of Hawai'i's swimming coach.

Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. followed by the program at noon.

• Samoan awards: The 6th annual Samoa International Sports Awards is April 27 at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

The banquet will feature the 11th annual Samoan Football All-Star Teams for high schools and colleges.
