Dave & Buster's sign gets busted
Advertiser Staff and Wire Reports
The notice of violation citing the Dave & Buster's sign was issued at the end of September, said Randy Fujiki, the city's planning and permitting director. But Victoria Ward Ltd., which operates the complex, probably won't have to remove the sign for about a month, Fujiki said, while the city reviews a master plan for revising all the signs at the Auahi Street complex.
City planners approved permits for the 12-foot-diameter sign because they thought Dave & Buster's would be on the first floor where signs are allowed to be bigger, Fujiki said. Dave & Buster's, however, is on the second floor.
Victoria Ward president Mitch D'Olier said a solution is being worked out. He said people will see more, but smaller, Dave & Buster's signs in the future.
Mary Steiner, executive director of the Outdoor Circle, which spearheaded the city's stringent sign ordinance, said her group received at least 15 or 20 complaints about the sign. But she believes everyone is working to correct it.
