Church to open credit union

Word of Life Christian Center, which claims a congregation of 5,000, said yesterday that it plans to open Hawai'i's only faith-based credit union Feb. 3 at the church's downtown property.

The credit union will offer financial counseling and will be federally insured up to $100,000 by the National Credit Union Administration, said senior pastor Art Sepulveda. The credit union will be run by Randall O. Chang, general manager and chief executive officer.

BOH done with subsidiary sale

The Bank of Hawaii said it completed the sale of its French Polynesia and New Caledonia operations to France-based Caisse Nationale des Caisses d'Epargne on Dec. 28.

Bank of Hawaii had said in October it was negotiating to sell its 17 branches of Bank of Hawaii's subsidiary bank in French Polynesia, Banque de Tahiti, and eight branches of its subsidiary bank in New Caledonia, Bank of Hawaii-Nouvelle Caledonie. The sale involves approximately $940 million in total combined deposits, approximately $1 billion in total combined assets.

Navatek now called Atlantis

Atlantis Adventures said it is changing the name of its Navatek Cruises tour boat operations to Atlantis Cruises, effective today.

The company also announced the promotion of Paul Dyson to general manager of the operation. Dyson has been with the company since 1995 as Atlantis Adventures' safety and training officer.

Atlantis Adventures owns and operates Atlantis Submarines and manages Sea Life Park Hawaii and Waimea Falls Park.
