The Left Lane
All about Air

Michael Jordan is getting his own magazine courtesy of Nike, which is paying Hearst Magazines to produce and distribute the publication.

Jordan, due out next month, will be sold on newsstands and sent to readers on a mailing list. Hearst plans to publish two editions of the magazine this year and four next year, with an initial print run of 300,000.

Hearst said it would be an "aspirational" lifestyle title, aimed at people 16 to 21 years old.

Reaching a high note

More Hawai'i musicians are in Grammy contention: Honolulu Symphony pops conductor Matt Catingub, aka Big Kahuna, and his Copa Cat Pack were featured on Rosemary Clooney's "Sentimental Journey" CD, which is vying for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

Catingub says he is "honored to be part of Rosemary Clooney's nomination. ... She's a dream to perform with. This is a wonderful acknowledgement of the great talent in the Copa Cat Pack band."

Clooney performed with the Copa Cat Pack and the Honolulu Symphony in a pops concert here in October.
