Tube Notes

"The Real World," 8 p.m., MTV. Long before real life was turned into game shows, this series reminded us that people-watching can be fun. The idea has remained consistent: Put seven strangers — young and attractive ones of course — into a fun apartment or house. Then watch their lives. That has worked because the people are chosen well and the episodes are edited skillfully. Only "Survivor" and "Amazing Race" match "Real World" for quality. Now the 11th round begins. This time, four women and three men are in a hip neighborhood in Chicago.

Of Note

"Mark Twain" conclusion, 8 p.m., PBS. The second half of this terrific documentary catches Twain at his peak, self-described as "the most conspicuous person on the planet." Tonight, bad investments and an explosive temper cause troubles, but his soaring spirit persists.

"24," 8 p.m., FOX. Jack starts to realize he has been a pawn in the plot to kill a presidential candidate. Meanwhile, the would-be assassin makes progress.

"Smallville," 7 p.m., WB. As this series continues, young Clark Kent will meet people from Metropolis where he someday will be known as Superman. Tonight, he meets a corrupt Metropolis cop.

"Frasier," 8 p.m., NBC. This wraps up a two-parter with Daphne battling her mom and Frasier battling a neighbor.
