A crew from "Caliente," a Miami-based Hispanic show on the Univision television network, will be in Hawai'i to tape four programs next week.
Executive producer Angel Aponte said tapings will be conducted on Jan. 25 in Waikiki, with precise sites to be determined, and on Jan. 26 at the Ko Olina Resort.
More than 50 salsa and merengue dancers and models, male and female, are needed for the tapings. Applicants should be Hispanic or Latino-looking, and those chosen will be involved in a salsa-Latino beach party segment. Call Nancy Ortiz at Alma Latina Productions, at 234-0772 or 285-0072, for specifics. Deadline is Sunday.
Rolando Sanchez and Salsa Hawai'i, the state's best-known salsa group, will be providing some of the music, Sanchez said. Other prime movers on the Hispanic scene may be added.
The hosts of "Caliente" are Charlie Bravo and Sandra Munoz. The first segment will be shown Feb. 23, the second on May 18; the airdates for the other shows will be announced later, Aponte said.
"Caliente" is one of Univision's popular entertainment programs, aimed at the widening Hispanic audience abroad. Univision 60 is its Hawai'i base, but a UHF antenna is required for access; It's also on Verizon Americast at Channel 19.
