Movie Openings

"LA Bóche": "The Yule Log," a 1999 release, is the tale of three very different sisters whose lives become entangled as the holidays approach. One is a fastidious middle-class housewife, the youngest is a career woman, the oldest lives with their father. Opens tomorrow at Restaurant Row Theatres. French, with English subtitles. (Not rated).

"Black Hawk Down": A war film based on action in Somalia in 1993 that left 18 Americans dead and many more wounded. Sam Shepard, Tom Sizemore, Josh Hartnett and Ewan McGregor co-star for director Ridley Scott in a film that has been receiving mostly rave reviews for its realism and intensity. "Snow Dogs": Children's comedy about a Miami dentist (Cuba Gooding Jr.) who inherits a dogsled team and heads for Alaska. While there, he butts heads with a gruff local (James Coburn).
