By Zenaida Serrano Espanol

Colorful kabuki costumes and the traditional kabuki style of acting, in English, are among the highlights of Honolulu Theatre for Youth's "Wondrous Tales of Old Japan," playing at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 16 and 23, and March 2 at Tenney Theatre, St. Andrew's Cathedral.

The play, recommended for children age 7 and older, includes the tales "The Story of Urashimataro," "Yuki Onna, the Snow Woman" and "Momotaro, the Peach Boy." The show was created and directed by David Furumoto, a former Honolulu resident and HTY actor who is an assistant professor of theater at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.50 for students with a high school or college ID, and $5 for children ages 3 to 12 and seniors over 60. Children 2 and younger are free but require a ticket. Call 839-9885.
