John Avila scored 14 points and Nash Subotic added 12, leading Hawai'i Pacific University to a 73-67 Pacific West Conference basketball victory over Western New Mexico last night at Silver City, N.M.
With their second victory over the Mustangs in as many nights, the Sea Warriors improved to 12-4 overall and 3-1 in conference.
Western New Mexico, led by Joey Ramirez with 13 points and L.T. Williams with 11, fell to 1-10 and 0-5.
HPU led 35-28 at halftime.
Montana State-Billings 120, BYU-Hawai'i 80: Danny Phillips scored 24 points to lead five teammates in double figures as the Yellowjackets (13-3, 3-2) romped past the Seasiders (10-7, 1-3) at Billings, Mont.
David Carse added 18, Kyle Stirmlinger 16, Keith Krause 14, Jerett Skrifvars 12 and Brian Cook 10 for the Yellowjackets, who made 10 of 26 3-pointers. MSU-Billings led 41-27 at halftime
Alexus Foyle scored 20, Scott Salisbury 15, Keli'i Naihe 13 and Yuta Tabuse 12 for BYUH.
