• Lam in qualifying: Honolulu's Chris Lam, who is playing No. 1 as a University of Santa Clara freshman, is one of three Hawai'i amateurs who received wild cards into the singles qualifying at the Hilton Waikoloa Village USTA Challenger.

Qualifying will be today and tomorrow, from 9 a.m., at the Hilton's Kohala Tennis Garden. The main draw starts Tuesday, and includes Michael Chang, Michael Russell and James Blake.
