Kmart store plans taken off agenda

A planned presentation on Kmart's "Ke'eaumoku superblock" store on the agenda for the Ala Moana/Kaka'ako Neighborhood Board meeting tonight has been canceled.

The proposed 175,000-square-foot Super Kmart Center is planned for an 8.5-acre site bordered by Ke'eaumoku, Makaloa, Sheridan and Rycroft streets that has been vacant since 1990.

The Department of Planning and Permitting plans a hearing on the project at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at the City Hall Annex.

Sexual assault suspects arrested

Investigation of a domestic dispute between a 32-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman led Sunday to their arrest in connection with the man's suspected sexual assault of a child in which the woman was an accomplice.

According to police reports, the girl, 7, was a guest in a Waikiki hotel between Nov. 24 and Nov. 26. On an unspecified night, she was awakened by the man and sexually assaulted. The woman held down the victim's arms as she tried to stop her assailant, police said.

The two were identified from an investigation into an unrelated domestic dispute, police said.
