Tonight's Must-See

"American Family," 8 p.m., PBS. Television rarely tries to craft a weekly drama out of ordinary life. "American Family" does that with a twist: This is a Mexican American family in East Los Angeles. Jess Gonzalez is a barber whose little shop is a social center. His kids think he and his wife should retire to a condo. One is a doctor, one is a lawyer, one is fresh from prison, after taking the rap for his girlfriend.

Of Note

"That '80s Show" premiere, 7 p.m., FOX. The producers of "That '70s Show" repeat their formula, giving us broad jokes, likeable characters and occasional references to pop-culture history.
