No. 3 Mililani slips past Pearl City, 45-43

Trey Brown scored 17 points, and Rashaun Broadus and Kaipo Patoc each added 10 as third-ranked Mililani escaped with a 45-43 victory over host Pearl City in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association Western Division boys basketball game last night.
Broadus sank two free throws in the closing seconds to put the Trojans out of reach at 45-40. Corey Tavares hit a 3-pointer with a second to play.
Mililani improved to 7-0.
Michael Adams scored 13 points and Gabriel Spencer 10 for Pearl City.

Kailua advances: Kailua, the East's No. 6 seed, upset West No. 3 seed Leilehua, 2-1, by penalty kicks in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Boys Soccer Tournament last night at Leilehua.
The score was tied 1-1 after regulation and two overtimes, forcing the penalty-kick decider in which Kailua prevailed 5-4.
Also at Leilehua, West No. 5 'Aiea beat East No. 4 Kahuku, 1-0, by 3-1 on penalty kicks.
In other first-round games at Moanalua, West No. 4 Radford defeated East No. 5 Kalani, 1-0, on Kenny Serna's goal, and East No. 3 Moanalua beat West No. 6 Waianae, 2-0. Neal Arakawa and Geoffrey Say scored for the Menehune.
Last night's winners advance to tonight's quarterfinal round.

Kamehameha 8, Punahou 0: Leo Sing Chow pitched a six-hitter with nine strikeouts, and Ashley Ruff went 2-4 with a homer and three RBIs to carry Kamehameha.
Sing Chow also batted 2-4, including a triple and RBI.
Lindsay Fujita and Erin Arakawa had two hits apiece for Punahou.
