Japanese teen idol band helps tourism effort

Members of a Japanese teen idol band will come to Hawai'i in March, and promoters hope they will bring up to 4,000 Japanese fans with them.
The Japanese group Arashi, which is touted as the nation's top teen band, has agreed to participate in a state-sponsored campaign to promote tourism to Hawai'i.
Three band members will announce their plans at a news conference today with Gov. Ben Cayetano and Hawai'i Visitor & Convention Bureau president Tony Vericella.
Their tour of the Islands will begin March 28.
