Hundreds visit Capitol for Tech Day

Cory Lum • The Honolulu Advertiser

A robot — part of a display by NovaSol — greets visitors to a technology fair on the fourth floor of the State Capitol. Hundreds of government, business and technology leaders gathered yesterday to take part in the "Tech Day at the State Capitol," the first in a series of "New Aloha Economy Days," the brainchild of House Speaker Calvin Say, D-18th (Palolo, St. Louis, Kaimuki).

Tech Day at the State Capitol was sponsored jointly by the Legislature, City Bank/TIGR, and the Hawaii Technology Trade Association. More than 80 companies from across the high-technology spectrum, as well as companies that support technology in areas such as training and education, turned out to showcase their products and services.

According to the technology trade association, there are more than 700 high-technology firms and organizations in Hawai'i with a combined revenue exceeding $2 billion.
