Akamai wins patent battle with Isle tech firm

Akamai Technologies Inc. said a federal court in Boston granted its request for a permanent injunction to stop former Hawai'i-based Digital Island Inc. from using Akamai's method of expediting data transmission to Internet users.In May, Akamai said a federal judge upheld a ruling in its favor, saying that Digital Island, now owned by London-based Cable & Wireless, infringed on Akamai's patent.
