Companies sue to block Medicaid drug lists

Drug manufacturers are asking a federal court to stop states, including Hawai'i, from creating "preferred drug lists" for Medicaid patients and then forcing drug companies to offer steep discounts to make the list.The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Washington on Friday, asks for a preliminary injunction to stop a program already running in Michigan. The lawsuit also seeks to prevent 11 other states that are at various stages of either implementing or seeking approval for similar programs.
