Workshop set on tourism plan

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Tourism Authority will have a workshop tomorrow evening on O'ahu — the final in a multi-island series — to launch its new County Product Enrichment Program designed to enhance the quality and increase the number of tourism activities on each island.

The workshop will offer details about the application process for those interested in obtaining money for such projects on O'ahu.

A new strategic plan allocates a portion of the tourism authority's product enrichment budget to each county. In a significant procedural change, city and county staff will evaluate proposals, issue contracts and manage the programs that receive grants.

The tourism authority will monitor and evaluate each program's effectiveness.

Tomorrow's workshop will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Mayor's Conference Room at Honolulu Hale. For more information from the tourism authority, call Harumi Leong at 973-2281; for more details from the city, call Manny Menendez at 547-7878; or visit www.hawaii.gov/tourism.
