Trade Winds

CHRIS RESICH, a past chairman of the Hawai'i Visitors & convention Bureau, will be replace Lily Yao as chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i at its upcoming 152nd annual membership meeting. Resich is president of the destination management company MC&A; Yao is vice chairman of First Hawaiian Bank. Earlier this month, the chamber voted to have James Tollefson, acting president and chief executive officer since Sept. 1, assume his posts on a permanent basis.

• Saint Louis School 1960 alumnus Robert J. Morgado has been named chairman of the school's board of trustees, succeeding Judge WALTER S. KIRIMITSU, a 1958 alumnus who served two terms as chairman. Morgado, a resident of Maui, New York City and Connecticut, is chairman and managing member of the Maroley Media Group in New York city and was chief of staff for former New York Gov. Hugh Carey. Morgado is also past chairman and chief executive officer of the one-time Time-Warner Corp. division Warner Music Group. Kirimitsu is the new chief of staff at the University of Hawai'i.

PAULINE OSBORNE, former chief financial officer for University of Hawai'i Foundation, has been named vice president and chief financial officer for the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific. She will oversee the Kuakini Street medical rehabilitation inpatient hospital and 14 inpatient/outpatient clinics statewide.

• The former public relations heads of two of Hawai'i's largest hotel chains are among three new vice presidents promoted within McNeil Wilson Communications Inc.'s Travel and Tourism Group: SANDI YARA, former head of public relations for Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, who will oversee the account team that handles public relations for the Hawai'i Visitors & Convention Bureau; BERNIE CAALIM, formerly head of public relations for Hilton Resorts Hawai'i, responsible for the account team for Marriott International Hotels and Marriott's Vacation Clubs International in Hawai'i; and LORI MICHIMOTO, overseeing the team for Hawaiian Airlines, Kaua'i Visitors Bureau and Prince Resorts Hawai'i.

• Former U.S. Attorney DANIEL A. BENT and retired Circuit Court Judge PATRICK YIM are among new officers and directors of the local chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution: president, CYNTHIA ALM, who is an attorney and mediator, vice president, Bent; secretary, STEPHEN WILLIFORD, a mediator; and treasurer, Erin Edwards, office administrator and trainer with Mediation Center of the Pacific. New directors are KAREN L. CROSS, PAMELA MARTIN, IRIS SHINOHARA, ROY J. TJIOE, TRACEY S. WILTGEN and Yim.

GRANT SUMIDA, a former controller at Finance Enterprises Ltd., has joined The Kamehameha Schools as financial reporting manager. Former KPMG audit manager DEBORAH ERSKINE is also joining Kamehameha Schools' controller division, as assistant controller/investments and reporting.

• First Hawaiian bank has announced officer appointments in its Bishop Street Capital Management subsidiary: RYAN OTA, compliance and information director; M'LISS MOORE, vice president; and KENNETH L. MILLER, vice president and senior equity analyst.

JACKIE INGAMELLS has been promoted to managing director of AT&T Hawai'i, the most senior company manager in the state. Ingamells, who has been with the company since 1987, will oversee consumer market activities, sales and customer service operations and development, and the execution of Hawai'i marketing strategy.

T.J. OESTERLING has joined Outrigger Hotels & Resorts as vice president, Condominium Resort Division, overseeing daily operation and development of the chain's 10 Hawai'i condominium resorts. He replaces BYRON HODGE, who is retiring from day-to-day management but remaining as Outrigger consultant for two years. Oesterling most recently oversaw, as general manager, the opening of Hilton Grand Vacation Club's first Hawai'i vacation ownership property, Waikiki's Lagoon Tower. He is past regional vice president of Shell Hospitality Management Inc., in charge of four resort condo properties in Hawai'i.

JAMES P. BROWNE has been named banquet manager for the Renaissance 'Ilikai Waikiki Hotel, following a $27 million renovation of the 783-room property with new meeting and event facilities. Browne, who has been with the hospitality industry for 30 years, will be responsible for all catered events.
