Food bank celebration to honor unsung heroes

The Hawaii Foodbank will present its 7th annual Patriots Celebration Wednesday to honor Honolulu's unsung heroes — members of the Honolulu Police and Fire departments and Emergency Medical Services.

The red, white and blue event begins 6 p.m. at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom and includes dinner, as well as entertainment by Cathy Foy and the Royal Hawaiian Band.

Tickets cost $175; proceeds will support food banks statewide.

For details, call 836-3600, ext. 239.

The Hawaii Foodbank is a nonprofit agency that collects, warehouses and distributes food to help feed the state's hungry.

Donated foods are distributed to 245 charities on O'ahu and to food banks on the Big Island, Kaua'i and Maui.
