WINDWARD
Ex-TV producer to run for office
Barbara Marshall, former executive producer of KHON Fox 2 news, has announced her candidacy for the Honolulu City Council's District 3 seat, which includes Kane-'ohe, Kailua and Waimanalo.
Marshall said she was "moved to run for office after more than three decades of broadcast journalism because there is a need to ensure integrity and openness in the Honolulu City Council."
"I have lived in Kailua for more than 23 years, and protecting the quality of life on the Windward side is extremely important to me," she said.
Former Windward state Sen. Stan Koki has said he intends to run for the seat, and Donald A. Bremner and Kimberly A.M. Kalama have filed their nomination papers to run as well.
The seat is open because Councilman Steve Holmes has reached the term limit for the office.
