Holiday fun, not fire
Think the monster Arizona and Colorado wildfires that have charred hundreds of homes and millions of acres could never happen in Hawai'i? Think again.
Fire officials warn Fourth of July fireworks are capable of sparking blazes that could easily get out of control because of our hot weather and tinder-dry fields.
There are plenty of public displays to enjoy. But if you do set off fireworks at home, skip the aerials and have something close at hand to put out a fire if one starts. And have a festive and fire-free Fourth of July.
