WINDWARD

Castle facility to open July 21

Castle Medical Center's new facility will open with a blessing and open house from 3 to 5 p.m. July 21, offering entertainment, demonstrations, tours and free health screenings.

The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Medical Plaza and Wellness Center was built at a cost of $10 million.

The three-story, 38,500-square-foot building will house the Castle Wellness & Lifestyle Medicine Center, operated by Dr. John Westerdahl. The center includes a library, kitchen for cooking demonstrations, exercise and fitness classroom, and an auditorium.

The facility also provides space for Nicotine Dependency Treatment under the direction of Hilo, Hawai'i-born Dr. Edward Fujimoto.

The new wing will house a number of doctors' officers and other Castle Medical Center programs.


NORTH SHORE

Football tickets go on sale

Kahuku.org, a school online retail store, is selling reserved seats for the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association First Hawaiian Football Classic on Sept. 21 when Kahuku High School will play Long Beach Poly and Saint Louis School will play De La Salle.

Discounted tickets are $17 in the reserved Kahuku section. An additional $2 discount will be given with the purchase of a Kahuku school T-shirt. Prices at Aloha Stadium will be $24.

Beginning Monday, store hours will be 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets will be available online beginning Monday.

Pet calendar photos sought

The Hawaiian Humane Society wants photos of your pets for its 2003 "Pets in Paradise" calendar.

People are invited to enter their best animal photos by July 31 along with a $15 entry fee.

Fourteen photos will be featured as full-page pets of the month; other photos will be included as part of a collage.

Photos must be horizontal color prints no bigger than 6 inches-by-4 inches and must contain only animals. Digital photos must be printed on photo-quality paper. No pictures will be returned.

The calendar, available in November, is part of a fund-raising project that supports the care of homeless pets.

CENTRAL

Bone marrow drive tomorrow

The St. Francis Medical Center Hawai'i Bone Marrow Donor Registry will have a donor registration and testing drive tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Blaisdell Park in Waimalu.

The registry matches donors with patients who need bone marrow transplants because of terminal blood diseases.
